Changes to Safety Training for Swim Coaches Requirement for 2009 Registration Year (USASwimming.org)- Information has been sent to LSC Registration Chairs about the updated Safety Training for Swim Coaches requirement.  These changes take effect for the 2009 registration year which begins in September.  The main change is that all coaches must successfully complete the online (25 questions) Safety Training for Swim Coaches written test.

There are several options for completing the rest of the certification process:

     A.    Take the online test and then demonstrate the required water skills to a certified Red Cross instructor who will issue a Safety Training for Swim Coaches card.

2.    Present a valid and current lifeguarding card (Red Cross, American Lifeguard Association, Ellis and Associates, YMCA Lifeguarding, or StarGuard) along with email confirmation of the online Safety Training Test to your LSC Registration person.

3.    Take a full Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches 8 hour course. This includes the written test.

The options are explained more fully on the coaches’ page of the USA Swimming website.

Club Leadership Business Management Course to be Offered March 22 in Tampa- Dear Coaches & Club Boards, Good luck with all of the championship meets coming up.  I realize that I will be teaching the Club Leadership Business Management course on the final day of the NCSA Juniors meet, but this is one of the few times I can get this course in.

This class is required for all new clubs, prospective clubs should take it if they have a chance.  USA Swimming recommends that all teams with boards or booster clubs take this class.  If you are going to be doing Club Recognition (which you all should) then your club will need this class for level 2 and 4, and you must have taken CLBMS in the last three years.  There is new material included in the course since it was taught last year.  Please remind your folks to sign up.  They just need to let me know how many from their club are coming.  New clubs or prospective clubs with boards will need a coach and a minimum of 1 board member.  This is a free class.

We are going to go to have the CLBMS at Emerald Green Golf Resort & Country Club, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, on March 22, 2008, in Tampa (Carrollwood Village).  Please let me know how many folks you will be bringing with you.  See you all soon!

New FL/USA-S SWIMS Feature For Clubs TM- SWIMS has developed a new feature for importing TIMES and ATHELTE ROSTERS into TEAM MANAGER for all Florida Swimming clubs.

At this time the office can create a file of the following options for you to import into Team Manager (you must have the latest update to complete this process v. 4.0RE or newer)

  • Meet Results File of a complete meet held in any LSC

  • Club Results within a specific date range for your club, this export will be available only for your own club upon request, and only available for clubs within Florida Swimming.

  • Selected athlete times for a specific date range, only available for athletes within Florida Swimming, no other LSC options are available from this office.

You will receive the exported file in a zipped format which must be unzipped and saved prior to importing it into Team Manager.
